Sebastien:
As the parent of a 2002 player, I don't know if my experiences and observations are valuable to the older players. Furthermore, I'm speaking as a parent of a child that wasn't coming in as a solid "Gold" player but rather a player whose game benefitted from exposure to a higher level of competition than previously seen. Therefore, I leave the decision of whether to share our experiences with others up to you.
In our experience, the OneHockey Tournament contributed immeasurably and instantly to our son's improvement and seeing the high level of competition was a spectacular benefit to him.
My husband and I were rather hesitant to take our son to the tournament in Philadelphia last summer. He was a relatively inexperienced player, with one year of in-house and one year of Mite B travel behind him. Further, coaches and players had changes in their plans, so Thomas was to play for a team on which we didn't know anyone and for a coach that wasn't familiar with him. He would also be playing forward because of a registration error on my part, and he had no experience in that position. We were afraid that Thomas would not only be the worst player on the team, but that he would be a liability to the team. Most importantly, we were concerned that Thomas wouldn't enjoy the tournament because his skill set wouldn't be developed enough to allow him function in the face of the high level of competition advertised.
At the initial team practice, it was immediately apparent that Thomas had never been exposed to the level of competition that was present on his team. He skated as well as any player, and his stick skills were adequate. However, his hockey inexperience clearly showed - especially when faced with the OneHockey competition. The pace and physicality of the play was several levels above anything we had seen previously.
We discovered that Thomas rose to the challenge. We observed distinct improvement at each game. In fact, by the semi-finals, Thomas received the 2nd player of the game. I asked his coach whether he had received that award as a "most improved" or if he truly had deserved it and was assured that he had been granted that accolade on the basis of his performance in that game. While I certainly attribute a portion of Thomas's improvement to coaching, I also credit a large portion of Thomas's improvement to having the opportunity to play at such a high level and be challenged so forcefully by his 2002 peers. He thrived on the competition, and his game has thrived. Thomas continues to improve in leaps, as opposed to the gradual learning we saw last year. I'm sure that his experience at OneHockey and his desire to be a playmaker in an environment like that continues to drive his improvement.
When Thomas received his invitation to return as a Silver player next year, I emailed the parents from his OneHockey team. They were all veterans of the tournament hockey circuit, and I wanted to know if their experiences were as great as our experience or if we were only impressed because we'd never been to another tournament - other than West coast tournaments with Thomas's team. The responses I received uniformly assured me that the OneHockey Tournament was the premier tournament in terms of (1) level of competition, (2) amount of ice time, and (3) overall competition and that if I shopped around for a different experience for Thomas next summer, we would be disappointed.
We haven't registered Thomas for next summer's tournament because we have family considerations that prevent us from planning that far in advance. Hopefully, there will still be openings when we are in a position to cement our plans. Furthermore, Thomas is vocally focused on improving to the point that he is invited to play in the Massachusetts or Canada tournament. So you can rest assured that you have a product my child is excited about.
My perspective on hockey is that it is a gift to my son. I have no expectations that hockey will be his career or provide him the financial wherewithal to go to university. If Thomas learns to always aspire to be the best he can be and to function as a leader and as a teammate both in hockey and in life, I will have received my money's worth from hockey. If Thomas chooses to embrace our gift of hockey and take it to the next step with his own commitment and skill, it is a joy as a parent to watch, and my husband and I will support him in his goals. The OneHockey Tournament was a reward for hard work and straight A's in school last year - the fact that it functions both as a reward for dedication and cements Thomas's development in a sport he has chosen to dedicate himself to is a delightful added bonus.

Sweet! I’d love to go this year… I’m going to be coaching a team this year as well, so it will be great to experience this event. One of the kids who was on Team Manitoba last year is on my Midget AAA team that I’m coaching right now and he says “It was the best tournament he has ever experienced…” So that says something! He also wears his OneHockey jersey proud whenever we ask them to wear them own jerseys.

Sebastien, Shaun,
I'm sure you're busy winding down the activities from your tournament today, but I wanted to thank you for an incredible experience again at One Hockey in Philadelphia! Your tournament reminds us again why we love hockey so much. It's competitive, but not stressful, you meet great players from all over the world and the coaching is nothing but the best (who doesn't love JF?). For me, it's a great time to catch up with all of our friends and make new ones.
Alex was just tickled to death about winning the MVP Award. Please let me know if you need our address because your trophies are his favorites :). You really know what kids like.
Thanks again and keep in touch if you need anything.
Best always,

Good Morning from Sunny South Florida, My two sons had an amazing time at your tournament. Even thought the teams did not advance to the play-offs, we still had a great time. We look forward to the Fall tourney in Michigan and to Philly next year, that is if they are invited to play again....... My son Scotty Herman, team 2002 Encore was a star of a game. He received a hat for that effort... Dr Joe Herman Philly Testimonial
Hey Guys, I just wanted to say Thank you so much for the opportunity you gave to Lane, he had a blast, and made some great friends. He is already making plans to fly down to see them. Not only was it a great opportunity for Lane, I think it also gave him a sense of confidence in himself for going down there and playing kids he didn't know before. We were very proud of him, he was pretty proud of himself as it was what we talked about for most of the trip home. Also a huge Thank you for helping us get out and see some places we never really considered seeing. We ended up having a great holiday and seeing sites that were very exciting. We do hope that we will get the opportunity to come down again next year. You guys did a great job putting this tournament together, the teams were definitely of a great level and a great challenge. Keep up the good work. Also very nice to have had some beers with you guys poolside and getting to know you guys. Thank you again from The Brann family, Lindsay Brann Philly Testimonial

Sebastien, Our team had a great time in Philly. The tournament was a competitive tournament and we did very good. It was refreshing to talk to Randy Burridge after the tournament. He offered some 16U aaa spots for the Las Vegas Storm team to some of our players. I knew him from his NHL days. I got his autograph back when he was playing for the Bruins. What is up with this "Hockey night in Boston" weekend? One of my best friends son is a 94 and tells me you are putting a couple of teams together to go there. Lmk about it, if not for this year, next year. Thanks, Tony PS: Joey led our team in scoring the tournament. 5g and 4a. Counting the practice game he ended up with 7g and 6a in 8g.

Sebastien,
Thanks for a great tournament. We had a very strong team but only ten players. I guess there was alot of last minute cancellations. We had two injuries and had to forfeit our playoff game. After playing six games with so few players( three Dmen) the whole team was beat up and exhausted. I spoke to some local parents who advised me that many local kids would gladly play if this situation occurs again. With a full roster our team would have given Michigan a real challenge as our top end kids were second to none. Starting a tournament like this with only ten players and 3 Dmen is too difficult.
Thanks again we sure had a great time.

Salut Seb, Quel merveilleux tournoi, les kids on beaucoup de plaisir!! Philly TestimonialFirst and foremost, I would like to take this time to thank you very much for the chance to coach in your awesome Tournament!!! I truly had a great time and the experience may never be topped!! Your Tournament was amazing and everyone on both teams have relayed to me that they had an awesome time as well as a great experience. Hopefully when you are making choices for your coaches for Edmonton and Philadelphia next year you think of me. I would love to coach in both Tournaments again and again if you would like me to do. I’m sorry to disappoint you and coming up short with both teams. Silver isn’t the color we wanted and is a very tough pill to swallow, I can tell you that. The lump in my throat is going to take a few weeks to go away. Still was amazing.

Thanks a million, Sebastien! The boys said it was the best tournament they have ever been to! TestimonialHi Sebastien,
I just wanted to drop you a note to say how pleased we were with our experience in Edmonton this past weekend. Our son, Pierce, participated on the 2002 North America Black Team with Dan Auchenberg as his coach. From the minute the boys met for the first time on Thursday to the farewells on Sunday afternoon, the entire team had an amazing and first rate experience. Well done on an a terrific inaugural event in Edmonton, we certainly can't wait until Philly.
On another note, thank you to OneHockey for inviting Pierce back to Edmonton next year as an All-Star. I'm sure we'll be booking that trip in no time. See you in Philly.
Best Regards,

Hello All,
My name is Jo-Anne, I was the manager for the Southern Alberta 2003 team over the weekend.
First off , I want to say a huge thank-you from the bottom of my heart for providing this opportunity for our children to participate.
When I approached some individuals about signing up for this they thought I may be leading them on a adventure which we weren't sure about , but it turned into something magical. As you are well aware we won the 2003 division , the pride as parents and to see the happiness and joy in our children's eyes carrying around the (little Stanley cup) was as good as it gets. ( you probably don't know this but some of the team had a history vs. some of the Vancouver Millionares where we came up on the short end 2x) so it was a bitter sweet victory. The tournament was awesome and to play at West Edmonton Mall will be a memory none of us will forget. It may be true there's always another game but some games speak for themselves. I could go on forever , the players will talk and reminisce about this forever and thank you with providing them with this memory.

Congratulations to all our boys, for winning the First Annual ONE HOCKEY Championship tournament this afternoon in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada.
We should all be proud of our boys for a great finish and a team accomplishment for coming together over the course of 4 days. In all 6 games, our boys never quit, dug deep and played with heart to especially today to finish off Parkland in the second sudden death overtime.
Man oh man…..what a finish…..memories for life but I must admit hard on the ticker. J
With that said, on behalf of the coaching staff (Sheldon, Mike B & Mike M) we would like to extend our appreciation & thank you to all the parents, grand-parents and fans that supported us along this journey.
We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to coach these talented boys and become the 2011 (North American Black) Champions for the 2000 division.
In closing, I’ve created a link on photobucket where we can all upload our pictures of the weekend in order for us to share within our team for future memories within the group.

I wanted to extend my deep thanks for the wonderful coaching that you provided to my son ( Keenan # 31 Goalie) during this past weekends Alberta Tournament. Every time I looked toward the ice or the bench, I saw you behaving in a way that was both professional and positively supportive of the players both entering and exiting the ice surface. I realize losing four games in a row is tough on both the coaches and the 10 year olds, but you handled it with grace and composure, even when the parents and fans got a little too intense. I am sure that the team make up is a learning curve for everyone and I expect it will get more polished with time. The entire tournament experience was completely positive, the coaching, the uniforms, the schedule and rink selection, the skills and free play area ( he spent hours there) and the atmosphere, my son wore his jacket to school today with pride, and it took almost an hour to settle him in last night as we relived the great moments. When you can come home with that many losssess in a row, and that many shots on a goalie and still feel excited, something defenitely went right.

I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to coach at the Edmonton tourney. I had a lot of fun. The 97 team started out a bit slow but with a few changes I think we got a lot better giving the Interior team a strong run only losing 3-2 in the semi's. The 2000 team did well we had to make a couple of come backs to pull off some wins but they were so much fun to coach. Thanks again Sheldon Testimonial
Hey Sebastien
wow !! what a great week end..I had a blast and I know the 2 teams that I coached loved it.I know that they said to me they are coming back for sure next year. I have to say I had some aprehention , but as I started to see things evolve.I knew it was going to be fun..The only thing I didn't know how much fun it really was going to be.
I know there is a buzz in town here .People are calling me and asking about it. All I can say is I'm in it for the long haul. My 99 team did very well and they are sold on Onehockey. They are calling me and saying how much fun the Boy's how much fun they had. I just want to say thanks !! it was an amazing and thrilling week end.
The 98's had a great time even if we didn't win.The parents were pleased to see the talent and how well their boy's did with only 11 skaters. They said that they will be back next year . I know I asked all the boys on both teams and they all said they want to come back.
I will continue to promote your One Hockey .I'm sold on the format and was amazed by the talented players.

J-F,
First of all thanks for a great weekend!! Wyatt is still talking about his team's championship run and all the fun things that he encountered along the way. He had a great time playing for you and he was joking with his brother last night when we got home that Coach J-F was funny to listen to when he was "talking" to the refs. Wyatt was laughing because he said every time one of our players got checked...coach J-F was yelling "Obstruction!! That's Obstruction!!" Wyatt got a kick out of that! He also mentioned to me that it was nice to play for a coach who was pushing them to win, making each player give 100%. I think Wyatt thrives in that environment.
I'll be honest...we really weren't sure what to expect for this trip to Edmonton. We considered it to be kind of a gamble because you never really know what sort of coach you'll get or what kind of competition you'll see or even who the teammates will be. But I sent a message to Sebastien this morning telling him it was a great tournament, well organized and that we had great coaching and an overall great experience for Wyatt! Wyatt is already talking about going back next year. So thanks again!! Chris Newpower Testimonial
Good Morning Sebastien,
Thank you for an amazing weekend of Hockey! The Tournament was an adventure many families will not forget. From the first practice as a team to the last second of the final game, it's been AWESOME!
Each player went home with unforgettable memories and new friends. The skill levels of each player were incredible to watch. You could not help being engulfed in the energy around you at each game.
Our son has never participated in such an event. We are very proud parents and we thank you and the many "behind the scenes" personnel who assisted you this past weekend. The experience was above our expectations.
We look forward to returning next year, and thank you for the generous awards the tournament awarded our son.

Sebastien,
I just wanted to pass off a big thank-you on behalf of our team and the parents in relation to the tournament this past weekend. The kids had an absolute blast and the parents couldn't believe how well organized the tournament was. I have one kid that had to miss a game because of his Spring Hockey Team commitments and he was very upset having to miss the OneHockey game telling his parents OneHockey was way more fun.
It seemed that everywhere you turned around Sebastien Fortier was there! That says a lot about how hands on you are with the organizing and planning and willingness to accommodate.
Having been involved in coaching for quite sometime and having attended NUMEROUS tournaments throughout western Canada and California in a few weeks!! This by far was one of the most positive experiences, well organized and for the kids tournaments I have ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind this tournament will become HUGE! and people will be kicking down the doors to get involved. There was an electric buzz around the rinks and I've been fielding emails from parents expressing their gratitude for having their kids picked to play in such a wonderful and competitive event.
And lastly the kids truly felt special after winning the 2002 division having you hand over the cup was an added touch of class! And it was only topped-off with the celebration of the "Apple Champagne" in the dressing room giving the kids the "Big League Experience!" It's little things like that these kids will remember for years to come and as both a parent and a coach Thank-you for everything you did in making this what I think will be one of the best experiences for these kids young Minor Hockey Careers! We will definitely see you in 2012, I have parents already asking me to keep them in the loop for try-outs etc...
If you need a coach next year I'm more then willing to do it again and go for the repeat!!
Thanks again, you run a top notch program!

Hello Sebastien, My son participated in this year's OneHockey Tournament - 2011 Alberta Spring Event. The Tournament brought together the best players in their age groups and the level of hockey was incredible. The kids played an amazing hockey and it was a great display of talent on the ice. My son was proud to be a part of it and enjoyed every single moment of the Tournament. The players on our team, who had never played together before, really came together as a team and made very good friends. I truly believe the Tournament brought the best out of each player who participated in it and it will make lasting memories. All in all, it was a truly elite AAA tournament and I appreciate all the work you guys have done to organize this event and challenges you faced. Hope for my son to be a part of it again. Regards, Len Ossipov
You may recognize the name from the 08 tournament in Aston. My son played goal for team Canada 96 coached by Bill Huard. My son still reflects on that tourney as one of the highlights in his minor hockey career. Cheers Blaine Alberta, Canada
I can tell you that OneHockey is a great organization from what I've been a part of them so far. They keep to their word! When Sebastien says that you will be paid on a certain date and the amount, that is going to be true! They have yet to steer me wrong and the hard work will definitely pay off. I'm not being paid to sit here and say that OneHockey is a great organization. I work for Canlan Ice Sports and do this on the side because I love talking to people and I love the game of hockey. It's the experience so far with OneHockey that I'm proud to say that I'm glad to represent them as the Manitoba region rep/scout. Jaime Sparkes
The one hockey experience was terrific. Your organization is class from top to bottom. Growing up in the game and being able to play at the high levels afforded me a great deal of friendships, wisdom and more important life lessons. I am proud to say One hockey has afforded my son at the age of 7 the exact same experience. He is young in his hockey life, however, the One Hockey experience has given him a distinct advantage thus far. We will continue to work with One Hockey and play within this organization. There are many life lessons to be learned from the game of hockey, and the total experience of One hockey team delivers on all fronts. Regards CJ Zezima
I would like to say thanks again for everything you and OneHockey have done for us. Interacting with you and OneHockey have been our best experiences since Nick started playing at 5 years of age. Sincerely, John W. Egan
I have been involved with Sebastien and the OneHockey events for the past two years and I can promise you that the Alberta event this Spring will be well worth your time and involvement. Personally, I have coached in the Philadelphia event and it was competitive from top-to-bottom in every age group. Just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful experience my son, Nico Pidro, had last week. He played for the 2000 Hockeynow team. Frank was great with the kids and to see how he worked with them to jell into a team in just 4 short days was amazing. The tournament was definitely one of the best we have been to! Hunter is VERY excited and honored to have the opportunity to skate with the team again. He learned much from playing alongside his teammates, and (he said) learned more about hockey after one 2 hour practice and a scrimmage than he had the entire previous season. I know I learned a decade’s worth of coaching skills from being around JF close up on the bench. It was a pleasure to watch JF coach… After six years of travel hockey, the OneHockey experience was absolutely THE BEST week we have ever spent at a tournament. Brad (Hunter’s Dad) HockeyNow 99

We wanted to thank you for the outstanding tournament. It was very well organized and run. We have been to many over the years and this ranks up there as one of the best in our experiences. The hockey was fast and challenging for Justin. He had a great time and really liked Patrick as his coach. The players on the team were great. The facility was wonderful, as was the hotel, even the flights were alright. I believe Justin has gained valuable hockey knowledge he can put to use at the Oil Kings camp in August. J-F Quintin, My wife and I would like to Thank You for coaching Spencer again this year. Last year was a great experience for him, playing AAA for the first time and being able to hang with the other guys. But most of all he remembered how you were as a coach, very funny and comical but at the same time held them responsible for their play on the ice. That is a hard mix to find now in youth hockey, but you make it work and the kids really seem to enjoy your style. This year was no different. When I found out that you were going to be his coach again I didn't tell him. He didn't know until the practice. He was very happy to have you as a coach again, he has the utmost respect for you as a coach but also as a person. This year you pushed him harder than last year and I think he responded for you. Next year, I hope we are able to hook up again for the tournament it would be great. Again, thanks a lot and enjoy your summer and the upcoming hockey season........... I just wanted to compliment you on another very well run, fun, and exciting tournament last week. My son Colby played on Dan Lacroix’s 94 Flypuck team and the kids had a blast, not to mention a great game in the final… although they lost a nail biter in the end! Our team had a great time at One Hockey. Unfortunately the games did not go our way... a last minute tie and a loss at the buzzer killed us... but then we blew a team out 9-1... CRAZY!!!And boy would we have loved another crack at Florida/Quebec... We were down 2-1 in the 1st and beat them in the 3rd... a break-down in the 2nd killed us... Oh well... maybe next year... We had a blast!!! Christina Daves Team Virginia 98
Thank you, from the NJ Colonials a/k/a NJ Selects. As you know, we were a last minute addition and arrived with a very short bench. Nevertheless, I have never gotten such positive feedback from our boys and their families about an away tournament. They loved the competition and having Randy Burridge as their coach. The tournament organization was outstanding. Hopefully, we will return next year with a group closer to our full team. Please be sure to e-mail me with the details when you set next year's dates. Good Morning, I can't explain what a wonderful time your kids are going to have at this tournament. We have done them all and my son without a hesitation said last year I'm coming back to this one. This is truely the only player tournament in summer hockey. Sebastian does an amazing job having things for the kids to try, taste, and buy. He also has daily skills competition where the kids win really and I mean really nice prizes that they can use as well as 3 stars of each game will be awarded with prizes. This is the only tournament where MVP's get to come back the next year for free. No other tournament does what this one does and I have been to all the top AAA spring and summer tournaments. What you will receive as far as coaching - INCREDIBLE. My son met his coach last year for the first time and he said he would play for him anywhere anytime in a heart beat. How many coaches can your kids say that about and we are returning this year with the same coach. The best thing about summer hockey is meeting and playing with kids from all over the country that has the same passion as your son. It doesn't matter if you are from California, Texas, Canada, Sweden, Boston, Chicago or Detroit it is meeting players and playing with guys that love the game as much as you. I have a strong believe and any scout will back it up that they like to see kids play with players they have never played with before and can they do that. Sebastian brings in players from all over the country and they go through a extensive check to see if they are quality or not. It is also very good for your son to be coached by different coaches thoughout to get a different persepective of the game. The teams he puts together are top notch and what is really cool is your son will meet guys and make close friends in that one week and they will stay in touch by email, text and facebook and will try to hook up when they are at winter tournaments that they are both attending. I can't tell you how much my son is looking forward to seeing his teammates from last year - he can't wait and he is 15. If you don't attend this tournament you son will be missing out on a wonderful experience that I guarantee you that he will want to go back next year. Hey, good to hear from you. We have enjoyed your program @ Aston for 3-4 seasons. He played for 91' Team PA one time, then 92' Team DE , then last year he played on the two teams mentioned above. Since this will be his last One Hockey experience this summer, we will miss your program a lot. You have done a great job building this up into a world class event. We have recommended many younger players we have come across over the last 3-4 years to get themselves into One Hockey, and they have. Ted Shirilla
Mary, Sebastien, I am very impressed with the overall event at Philadelphia. Not only did I enjoy the time there, but I feel that I left with more memories and information than any other event / showcase I have been to or associated with in the past. Bravo, and job well done.
The 94 Encore team was great, the parents wonderful and I believe Ben learned a great deal about himself. Yes, by all means count on me in the future. Joe Perron, Vermont (Encore Hockey 94 manager) Testimonial
